A Dream Fulfilled
Thirty one years ago,at 18 years of age, I watched as my dream of graduating slowly slipped away. Because of abuse in my teens years, I was not able to graduate with my high school class. I received my GED, but gave up on ever experiencing the joy of wearing the "cap and gown" and hearing my name called out with my fellow graduates - that is until the night of September 22, 2010.
I had been enrolled in a Chiropractic Assistant class which my boss had enrolled me in. The Masters Circle along with Life Chiropractic College West put together a wonderful training program with challenging yet fun monthly modules. I looked forward to each and every module and taking each and every test. Approximately 8 months into the program, I learned that there was a graduation ceremony at the end of the program. This brough excitement to my heart - would I finally be able to expeerience the joy in graduating?
In June of 2010, just 3 months from graduation, I was struck down with vertigo. This illness left me bed ridden for almost 3 weeks, threatening my completion of the program in time for graduation. Much to my surprise, the programs website was down for most of the month of June, keeping me in line for completion in time for graduation! It was really going to come to pass - I would be graduating!
Just a few weeks before I was to leave for Florida where graduation was to be held, I received a call from Michelle Turk, one of the wonderful instructors that I had the pleasure of learning from. She called to advise me that not only would I be graduating, but that I was chosen Valedictorian of the class! What and honor to have received this call! I was excited yet amazed - why was I chosen?
Trying times may hinder our understanding, but God does have a plan for our lives and He does work all things for good for those who love Him. It became clear to me as I sat on the stage getting ready to present my speech to my graduating class - I was chosen as Valedictorian to fulfill my dream. God did not only fulfill my dream He fulfilled it the most magnificent way that He could!
I urge anyone who is reading this to never give up on your dreams for it is never too late to make the commitment to continued growth and lifelong learning and to recapture what life's experiences may have taken away.
